Osvaldo Casanova

«The great stage races are a glorious mystery, which I approach respectfully. I must admit I don’t understand why but I know it is my fault, like with jazz or the Genesis. The I think of charm of the pink jersey or the polka dots one, of my auntie in Pinerolo and the restaurant “al Curvone”, of Pozzi and Girardoux, of the tiny plastic balls bearing the cyclists’ pictures kids would play with on the beach, of Bitossi and Baronchelli sprinting in the desert of the movie Marrakech Express, of Paolo Conte and the Frenchmen getting mad, of the Style Council in My ever changing moods, of my granny’s sayings («Where are you speeding to? You look like Gimondi!», of the epic stories about our fathers as youths touring the mountains to see the Giro, and I realise that cycling is closer to me than I think».
